Our God Cleanses Us

Corporate Confession of Sin

Almighty and most merciful Father,
We have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep,
We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts;
We have offended against your holy laws;
We have left undone those things which we ought to have done;
And we have done those things which we ought not to have done.
But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us;
Spare those who confess their faults;
Restore those who are penitent,
According to your promises declared unto man in
Christ Jesus our Lord;
And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake,
That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,
To the glory of your holy name. Amen

Our God Communes with Us

Minister: Christians, What do you believe?
People: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hades; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
*This term should not be confused with the Roman Catholic Church, for the
term catholic with a lower case “c” simply means universal.
This is from the Greek katholikos, derived from kath holos, meaning “throughout the whole.”

Minister: These are the gifts of God for the people of God!
People: Thanks be to the Lord!
